LB Birchfield, RD
LB’s formal education defines them as a Registered Dietitian, but they prefer to identify as a gender and body activist. LB is committed to undoing the dehumanizing and fatphobic legacy of diet culture and traditional dietetics. They strive to work in partnership with their clients to help clarify an authentic and intuitive sense of their own ideas of health, nourishment, and recovery.
LB grew up in Chicago, IL and received their master’s in clinical nutrition from New York University. LB has practiced body and nutrition therapy across the continental US within various eating disorder treatment facilities for the past 10 years. They find inspiration within the classroom where they teach masters-level dietetic students about the complexities of health and body oppression within traditional healthcare. LB has personal and professional investment in the intersections of body and fat liberation across gender identities. They have recently obtained USA weightlifting licensure with the hope of bringing trauma-informed weightlifting practices to their work. LB’s passion lands within changing the harmful nutrition practices that isolate bodies and genders outside the “status quo.”
LB's therapeutic style is marked by a suspicion for judgement and generalizations, and a respect for the power of curiosity, empathy, and humor to bring out the healthiest parts of ourselves.
